How to Crop a Video in QuickTime Player without Losing Quality

Locate the target video in your Finder app, right-click on it, and open it with QuickTime Pro. Play the video to any frame and press the Pause button.

Head to the Edit menu on the menu bar, and choose Copy. That will make a copy of the current frame.

Open Photoshop, create a new image project, and paste the frame copy onto the background. Next, use the Rectangular Marquee Tool on the toolbar to enclose the area that you want to maintain.

Make sure to fill the selected area with black color, and other parts with white color.

Go back to QuickTime Player, go to the Windows menu, and choose Show Movie Properties. Switch to the Visual Settings tab, hit the Choose button under the Mask pane, and add the mask file made in Photoshop.

Then you will only see the selected area on the video after you apply the mask.

Finally, go to the File menu, and select Export. Enter the filename and destination, and save the cropped video from QuickTime.

Open a video

Launch the best alternative to QuickTime after installing it on your PC. There is another version for Mac. Switch to the Toolbox tab from the top ribbon, and choose Video Cropper. Drag and drop the target video into the interface to open it.

Crop video

Now, you can crop the video in the QuickTime alternative by dragging the cropping box on the image. Or set the new value of width and height in the Crop Area section accurately. The Aspect Ratio allows you to reset the video aspect ratio when cropping it.

Preview and save the video

Preview the cropped video with the built-in media player by hitting the Preview button. If you are satisfied with the effect, set the filename, output format, and location folder at the bottom. At last, click on the Export button to save the result.
